I've been working on a fairly complex contract that has entered its second phase.
It involves the design and development of an online forms processing system with a front end that will be used at every college in California.
While it's challenging and keeps my interest most of the time, sometimes I get distracted by other things and wander off.
For anyone who has ever relied on contract work for a living you know this is the death of you. You don't get paid some of the income until you complete the contract.
So really you end up cheating yourself out of time and money when you let yourself get distracted.
I took the weekend off because my mom came into town and my mother in-law came into town the week before.
These two occurances totally knocked my schedule for a loop and the past weekend was blown as far as getting any work done or getting any sleep.
I did manage to see the highly controversial film "13 going on 30" on Sunday however, so it wasn't a total loss.
We hit the mall, Chuck-e-Cheese, the park and dinner. I did some drawing and painting with the kids.

I got one of these mannequin thingies I've wanted since I was about 10. This of course distracted me from my programming as I played and put it into super exciting poses!

I am just now catching up on my sleep and trying to get back into the work swing.
I want to complete this contract by the end of the month (which is my personal deadline I set).
I have some phone calls and other life stuff I have to do today that I always dread doing, so that's always a hurdle to get past too.
I hate making phone calls so much that one of my motivators to be successful is so I can afford to get a personal assistant and I don't have to deal with the hassles of phone calls and setting appointments anymore. Not that I have a lot of appointments to make, but I just hate it that much.
Someone to keep track of whether bills have been paid and if not, they can just bring me a stack of checks to sign to pay them.
