You know, this lack of enforcement of our immigration laws is one of the subjects that pisses me off about the Bush administration.
Last week 10 illegal immigrants were released because US Immigration didn't want them. here's an excerpt on an article Michelle Malkin put together:
Last week, the local police there stopped a speeding van. The driver was on the road with a suspended license. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the cops found 10 people stuffed inside. They sheepishly presented authorities with dubious identification cards. The cops asked the passengers where they were from and where they were headed. "Massachusetts" and "New Hampshire," the answers came back in perfect English.
One of the cops wasn’t about to play games. "Are you here illegally?" the officer asked. (I can hear the American Civil Liberties Union running to file their lawsuits right now).
Upon being asked their immigration status, the passengers suddenly lost their command of the English language. "No comprende," they sputtered.
Michelle has another piece called "Homeland Insecurity Files"
here.
There is a good discussion on her blog here where I take someone named "Surge" to task for trying to defend illegals as good upstanding citizens who haven't broken any laws (obviously avoiding the fact they broke a law coming here) and are the greatest thing since sliced bread. "Surge" seems to defend illegals by exorting the accomplishments of legal immigrants and passing it off as the goods of illegals.
When are we going to enforce our laws that's what I want to know. Come on Bush get off your butt and stop pandering to the hispanic community at the detriment of losing supporters like myself.
