I've been purposely avoiding the presidential candidates and conventions, as there are plenty of others focusing on those topics. I've been sticking strictly to issues that I take to heart. However, the speech by Rudy Giuliani last night at the Republican National Convention was simply the most powerful and incredible speech I think I've ever seen. From his humorous quips and story of a big burly construction worker bear hugging little president Bush like a little doll, to his first hand accounts of 9/11 he really hit all the notes.
I was actually stunned at times with how good he was.
There's a full text of the Giuliani speech here at the Washington Post. (Bug Me Not if you need a login and password). The text doesn't really do it justice though, you really had to see the man.

While John McCains speech was well done it seemed subdued and didn't have the power that I was expecting from him. Don't get me wrong it was decent, just very soft spoken. It did lead into the Giuliani speech.
