Rusty over at My Pet Jawa seems to have had enough with us being in Iraq. So is it time to pull out?

I personally see where Rusty is coming from on this. The Iraqi's don't seem to want to be a part of fighting against the people who are blowing them up indiscriminately and blaming it on the US and coalition being there. The people there that are setting off these bombs do not have the Iraqi's interests and kill them without hesitation.

Anywhere else in a civilized society the population would be outraged at the insurgents and be doing something about it. Yet only a few of the Iraqi's seem to be willing to join us in the effort of cleansing their country of these outside groups so that they can have a peaceful life. So are we wasting our time on an ungrateful people?

Rusty follows the line that he feels Muslims cannot form a true democracy and even the ones who have attempted such have not been successful.

David at In Search of Utopia doesn't think pulling out is a good idea because then some schmucks will take over. Well that's not really a good argument against Rusty because Rusty doesn't care if they have a civil war after we pull out. He does bring up the valid point of giving the insurgents a sense of victory similar to when the Soviet Union pulled out of Afghanistan.

There is a lot of debate on this topic as Rusty seems to have been in support of the Iraq thing for a long while and now has seemed to change his outlook.

My take is we need to stay there, but we need to get the diplomats out of the way and let the military start to flatten these insurgents rather than muzzling them when they are right on the brink of success every time (think Al Sadr).
