Wow, this is a cheesy video, but it kind of spurs your imagination on what amateur filmmakers really can do these days. Years back,
Ray Harryhausen, the best special effects man of his day, used stop motion animation, clay and assorted other items to make a lot of amazing film effects including
Jason and the Argonauts
,
Clash of the Titans and a host of
Sinbad movies.
I still love those movies, and own all of them, but this latest video (right click and save 9.7M) shows what people can do these days with just the technology at hand. From Dungeon Majesty comes a mix of hand drawn animation, live action, blue screen work, super-imposing, stop motion animation, music and storytelling. It's packaged as a cheesy TV show where 4 girls play Dungeons & Dragons with a Dungeon Master host.
While not your top of the line production, and some may even balk at it, the work of those who put it together shows imagination and some skills that, as developed, could produce other things of a higher standard.
How'd I find it?
