My son who was in Basra Feb-Aug 2003, commented that he hoped that if he went back there, the rules would be amended to allow them (Army) to shoot first! Meaning, you have to dodge a bullet before you take out the enemy (who will be in civilian clothing with a rifle in his hands)??

I am still wondering why the media was there in the first place to film the incident. My Grandfather fought in WWII, my dad in Vietnam and I was a Sgt in the Marines. At what point is our country going to realize that war takes a toll on the men and women who fight it, mentally and physically, they are scared 24 hours a day and quite frankly, one dead Iraqi who would not have hesitated to slit that Marines throat is somewhat insignificant. I am sure that some liberal idiot is going to jump on here and say that I am a barbarian or that everyone deserves to live.

I agree, like Nicholas Berg and the others that these savages cut the heads off of. The problem lies in the fact that they don't learn their lesson from killing a few of them, so kill all of them.

If they are wounded shoot them and save space in the prisons, if they are dead shoot them again to make sure they are dead. We have tried to play by the rules, it doesn't work.

In a combat zone against a known enemy, determined to kill Americans, you shoot first and ask questions later. This enemy is a tough, determined foe, financed every time you go to the gas station. They will not give up unless killed or severely wounded. War has always been that way. Of course it's nice to take prisoners, only why suffer extra KIA and WIA when we capture them. Under the right circumstances, POW's are fine, but in house to house fighting, I think a satchel charge would have been more appropriate. This is a fanatical enemy, they will kill every chance they can. Did you think war was pretty or glamorous? Sometimes you have to kill a kid or a woman, it just happens... Civilian casualties always exceed military KIA. Just look at Vietnam. Six million Vietnameese died. Two million NVA/VC, 800,000 ARVN, the rest were civilian KIA. They hide among the civilian population, so collateral damage cannot be avoided. Why do we kill each other on a tiny planet 93 million miles from the sun? Bunch of nut cases, that's why. Later and pray for peace!

Why should we care about their civilian casualties when they don't care about their own people? They hate America, that will not change. They are born and raised to hate us, they are trained in school, they are trained in their mosques and they are trained at home. Quite frankly who do they like? They fight with each other, they fight amongst themselves and they fight with everyone else.
