Everyone has their comfort food. Some people however don't seem to understand anything about comfort foods. Mine, like Michele's over at
A Small Victory, is Mac and Cheese and Mashed Potatoes. She likens it to "eating memories" and it's true. I also have an affinity for Lasagna. Sure all Italians have an affinity for Lasagna, you say, but mine is because of what it reminds me of.
The nostalgia of Lasagna includes the love and joy with which my grandmother, mother and sister, the whole female side of my family, took in making it and presenting it to the males who grunted and drooled at the glorious pan before them.
To this day I cannot see, smell or taste Lasagna without thinking about one of the women that have been involved in my life since birth. It's shear pleasure, just like seeing an old movie, tv show, book or video game you haven't seen for 20 years.
Do you have a "comfort food"? If so, share below or trackback to me so we can all bask in the glow of meaningful foods.
