I have reported on several occasions about the Connecticut DMV, a corrupt bureaucracy which has fraud running rampant throughout it. It is well known in the illegal alien, drug runner and identity theft communities as the best and easiest place in the United States to get a fraudulent drivers license for ID. Just yesterday in
a post I had an excerpt
Connecticut had developed a reputation from as far away as Florida as a place where people could buy fraudulent driver's licenses for as much as $3,500 without having to produce any identification. DMV workers also took payoffs for stealing the identities of legitimate license holders, police say.
Now we learn that the Commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles in Connecticut is stepping down and it only took 4 years to get him out. February 1, 2005 should be a national holiday from this point on.
News-Times
Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Gary DeFilippo, whose tenure was marked by a scandal involving fraudulent driver’s licenses and a troubled vehicle emissions testing program, will step down on Feb. 1.
Gov. M. Jodi Rell announced DeFilippo’s resignation on Tuesday. The Republican governor said she will announce plans for new leadership before DeFilippo’s departure.
"It has become clear in recent weeks that the Department of Motor Vehicles faces many complex challenges that can best be addressed by providing new leadership with a new vision for this agency," Rell said in a written statement.
That's the understatement of the century. A new vision of actually accomplishing the goals of what the organization was intended for, what a concept.
Rell thanked DeFilippo — originally appointed by former Gov. John G. Rowland — for his service. DeFilippo was hired in 1997 as deputy commissioner. He took over as commissioner in 2000.
In a memo to DMV employees, DeFilippo said he decided over the weekend to resign for "personal and professional reasons."
Yeah, thanks for your service. Thanks for aiding and abetting illegals and lawbreakers. His excuse for resigning for professional reasons is no doubt related to the fact he's been shown to be incompetent and a detriment to our nation. Good riddance DeFilippo.
