When all other arguments have run out just cry racism.
WXIA
About 100 protesters gathered at the state Capitol Thursday to rally against bills that would require that a person show a picture identification in order to vote.
Backers of the bills call them a giant step forward in the battle against voter fraud, but opponents say they're a giant step backward after years of Civil Rights progress. They contend many of the poor and elderly would be blocked from voting because they do not have drivers licenses or any other photo identification.
Non-photo forms such as utility bills or Social Security cards would no longer be accepted under the measures. The bills, opponents argue, could keep certain people from voting and reverse years of progress in minority voting rights.
"My mother's 96 years old. She no longer drives and she does not need photo identification. She would love to take her thumb and dip it in a little bottle of ink and vote," said Rep. Tyrone Brooks, D-Atlanta.
I'm sure a bunch of illegal aliens and those who aren't citizens would just "love to take [their] thumb and dip it in a little bottle of ink and vote" as well. A bottle of ink proves you voted, it in no way shows that you were legal or eligible to vote in the first place. What a dumbass! As for how this has anything to do with racism or civil rights I haven't a clue.

I wouldn't call it racist, but it will exclude american citizens from voting. For those of you who think any joe schmoe can walk in with a utility bill and vote, your wrong. Most, if not all states require you to register. In that registration you affirm under penalty of law, you're an american citizen.
The reason for registration deadlines is to allow not only time for getting all the cards out, but to verify eligibility.
Do you really think an illegal alien would be dumb enough to apply for a voter registration card?
Besides, any ID can be forged. How much more expensive would elections be if every volunteer, in every election would have to be trained to spot fake ID's. Or would you rather have the FBI conduct the elections.
Instead of having photo id, require voter registration cards be shown at the polls.
