KOLD TV in Tucson, Arizona put together "
a report" that is so totally slanted against the
Minuteman Project that it's as if it was written by MALDEF or La Raza or another open borders proponent group. They should be ashamed of themselves. They snuck in a reporter, Morgan Loew, as an "undercover volunteer" to obviously try and find some evil goings on within the group. After finding nothing, he wrote a report that condemns them anyway over a statement by two volunteers and two guys who had shotguns when they weren't supposed to have rifles of any kind. Jim Gilchrist, head of the Minuteman Project, says the two with the shotguns weren't volunteers with the group, but rather than investigate whether that is true the reporter just insinuates that they are anyway.
In addition the reporter finds fault in the fact that people wandering and camping in the desert have handguns. I personally would have a handgun or rifle of some kind if wandering in the desert even without the threat of gangs like MS-13 or known violent individuals like the illegal alien smugglers known as "coyotes" and drug runners. The reporter obviously seems to be an anti-gun proponent.
He also finds fault with the fact that all volunteers were told not to talk to the press because they may be taken out of context and to leave the talking to the spokesman for the group. This is a practice common in all organizations from corporations to the US government.
What did he actually find? He found one person who said the flood of Mexicans has made his small town look like a third world country. Anyone who has been to an area with tons of illegal aliens hanging out waiting to be picked up on a street corner would probably agree, but not this reporter who finds this racist. He also found that *gasp* when illegal aliens were spotted the group called the Border Patrol and then when they arrived kept their distance while they did their job arresting 5 illegal aliens.
This reporter is a disgrace and the network should be ashamed of such slanted reporting.
We're seeing a new side of the Minuteman Project -- what happens when volunteers think the cameras and microphones have gone away. In an undercover investigation, we found the Minutemen controlling what is released to the media and struggling to keep out extremists.
We wouldn't want them to keep out extremists now would we?
