A conference called "Unite to Fight Against Illegal Immigration" that is to be held this Saturday and Sunday in Las Vegas has irked the local illegal alien community and proponents of open borders. The conference is to feature Congressman
Tom Tancredo, head of the
Immigration Reform Caucus and a hero to those opposed to illegal immigration and James Gilchrist who is co-founder of the
Minuteman Project. The conference was put together by radio talk show host and founder of the
Wake Up America Foundation, Mark Edwards, and is at the Cashman Center.

"We feel like they are attacking our community and trying to change the mentality of the people against us," said Alan Torres, who is planning a protest outside the conference in Las Vegas.
...
"We're talking about jobs being lost, wages being suppressed and health care costs out of control," [James Dallas, a KDWN talk show host] said. "This is not about race, and the people who are injecting race into the issue are trying to confuse the issue."
Torres represents Asociacion Civil del Estado de Durango, a group of Mexican emigrants living in Las Vegas.
The mentality of the people is already against illegal immigration as is shown in
poll after
poll. Pretty much anytime you see Mexican emigrant you can be assured that it largely consists of illegal aliens. Those here legally refer to themselves as legal residents, not emigrants. The title of the AZ Central article, "Anti-immigration conference in Vegas spurs plan for protest", is also misleading as is common in the reporting industry. Whenever you are against illegal immigration they always try to slant it and say that you are against immigration altogether. This simply isn't true and it shows the bias of these papers in favor of open borders.

Update: (4:50AM PST)
I have done a little more investigation on this protest. Over at The Immigration Blog Chris Kelly has also done some digging and presented a little more background on the oranizer of the protest, Alan Torres, and found this from the Las Vegas Sun
A national summit about illegal immigration scheduled for this weekend at Cashman Center has aroused the rage of a coalition of Hispanic groups, who are calling organizers of the event "Nazi white supremacist(s)."
...
The coalition will protest outside Cashman Center, however, against the event, which he [Alan Torres] called "Nazi" and "racist" because its participants "want to marginalize us and push out our communities."
To compare a discussion conference on illegal immigration to rounding up millions and executing them is just ridiculous and those who continue to use the "Nazi" attachment should be ashamed of themselves. No one is advocating executing anyone, those against illegal immigration simply want it to stop and that legal immigration be the means of coming to this country. It's not that hard of a concept to grasp really.
Zach over at Our Way Of Life also adds this little tidbit
Does this mean that Torres is opposing people's right to talk about enforcing the laws regarding illegal immigration? Its starting to look like that fine line has been crossed about as much as our southern border. In addition, rumor has it that the protesters are threatening to get the latinos that work at the hotel to poison the conference goers' food.
