Going after the true source of supporting illegal immigration, Arizona Congressman J.D. Hayworth is putting together a tough immigration bill that would go after the businesses that hire them. In addition he would have prisoners who are illegal aliens deported immediately and tie foreign aid to Mexico directly to their crackdown on illegal immigration and drug cartels. Hayworth will be bringing the proposal forward in the coming weeks.

The Hayworth plan, still being finalized, would:
- Substantially increase civil and criminal penalties against employers who hire illegal immigrants.
- Deport 100,000 illegal aliens sitting in U.S. jails and prisons and 400,000 foreign visa holders who have overstayed their time in the country.
- Put more federal security resources along the Mexican border and boost the enforcement of existing immigration laws.
- Increase the number of green cards for foreign workers but not offer amnesty for illegals already in the U.S. or a guest worker program favored by business groups as well as Arizona Sen. John McCain and Congressmen Jeff Flake and Jim Kolbe.
The McCain plan calls for a guest worker program and allows the estimated 10 million to 15 million illegals already in the U.S. to apply for legal status after paying a $2,000 fine and going through criminal and medical background checks.
A source familiar with Hayworth's effort said illegals already in the U.S. would face stiffer sanctions than under the McCain-led effort, which also is backed by Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass.

"They're toast," said one source of what scofflaw employers face under Hayworth's proposal.
Good to see at least one person is looking at nailing closed the major incentive for illegal aliens flooding into the country.
