Bush's immigration speech was -- of course -- a bunch of lies trying to make it look like he's actually planning on doing something about the illegal immigration problem in this country. From "expedited removal" (the truth
here) to his guest worker program that he says is not an amnesty and that he "rejects amnesty", the whole thing was a bunch of tough talk with no action.
Anyone who looks around can see that he's not done a damn thing about illegal immigration in his terms as President. His continued hamstringing of legislation that passes by not funding, it is also apparent. All you have to do is browse through my Immigration Archive to read story after story of Mexico continuing to encourage illegal immigration and politicians continuing to assist them. and people crying racism any time the issue is brought up.
There's not a whole lot that I can say about the speech. While it all sounds good it has proven time after time to not be followed up with action and why should we believe him now?
You can see the Bush immigration speech here.
Michelle Malkin live blogged it.
The Tar Pit calls it what it is and has a long list of other bloggers who covered the speeches.
