Congressman Tom Tancredo of Colorado said Bush's recent speeches on immigration were a "less-than-appetizing sandwich"
Rocky Mountain News
Tancredo ... said the "meat" of Bush's talk was about tougher enforcement against illegal immigrants and those who hire them.
"But by starting out his speech talking about a guest-worker (program) and closing his speech talking about guest-worker, he took out all that meat and put it between two pieces of stale bread," Tancredo said.
Even though he came down on the prez for offering us a shit sandwich, Tancredo was encouraged by some of the enforcement mentioned by Bush.
"I remember his speech way back almost three years ago when he laid out his plan for immigration reform, and it didn't include anything related to enforcement," Tancredo said.
"The fact (that) he will admit to and actually propose some sort of movement on the issue of enforcement is encouraging.
"I'm very happy of course that he's done so. We just have to keep nudging him."
*nudge* *nudge*
"mentioned"
Unfortunately, this is about all that ever happens regarding enforcement -- it gets "mentioned".
The President, aka that cretin, is, and always has been, free to insist the border be secured and immigration law be enforced. At any time. In fact, it is his responsibility. In no way is any sort of guest worker program a necessary prerequisite or co-action. The fact that this securing and enforcement has not occurred since 9/11, the so-called 'War on Terror' being talked up all the while, is a disgrace (not to mention an insult to the intelligence of every American). Which is exactly what Bush is -- a disgrace. In addition to being a cretin, of course.
