Judith Zweifel, a 37-year-old married mother of two, has been arrested and charged with 30 counts of sexually abusing an 11-year-old friend of her 9-year-old son. The abuse is said to have occurred from December 2004 to August 2005. The charges, which are all felonies, include 19 counts of statutory sodomy, 10 counts of statutory rape and one count of child molestation.
Judith Zweifel is being held at the St. Louis County Justice Center and will appear in court at the end of January. Bail is set at $500,000.

St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCulloch says, "It is rare that we have a situation in which it is a female preying upon a young boy."

McCulloch says, "I think generally speaking yeah you look at it and you think if that were a man he'd be going to the penitentiary. Why isn't the woman going?"
McCulloch says there seems to be an unfair double standard when it comes to punishing female sex offenses. He adds, "It's the same crime. The punishment ought to be roughly the same."
