70 Legal Construction Workers Lose Jobs To Cheap Illegal Aliens In Alabama

Bookmark and Share

The constant rattling on of "guest worker" amnesty programs is based a lot because those who support it honestly believe that illegal aliens take jobs that Americans don't want. Anyone with a brain knows that is a crock of shit. There are plenty of Americans who were doing the jobs prior to the massive influx of illegal aliens over the past twenty years and they're willing to do it today. About the only thing stopping them is that they aren't willing to work for less than minimum wage and that unlike illegal aliens have to have taxes withheld from their paychecks with a contribution from their employer in the form of payroll taxes as well.

This is born out in this little piece in the Washington Times that shows what has happened to 70 legal workers and American citizens hired from one Alabama employment agency in the Hurricane Katrina disaster area. I bold the previous because there are surely hundreds and thousands of the exact same stories going on throughout the country.

An Alabama employment agency that sent 70 laborers and construction workers to job sites in that state in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina says the men were sent home after just two weeks on the job by employers who told them "the Mexicans had arrived" and were willing to work for less. Linda Swope, who operates Complete Employment Services Inc. in Mobile, Ala., told The Washington Times last week that the workers -- whom she described as U.S. citizens, residents of Alabama and predominantly black -- had been "urgently requested" by contractors hired to rebuild and clear devastated areas of the state, but were told to leave three job sites when the foreign workers showed up.

"After Katrina, our company had 70 workers on the job the first day, but the companies decided they didn't need them anymore because the Mexicans had arrived," Mrs. Swope said. "I assure you it is not true that Americans don't want to work.

"We had been told that 270 jobs might be available, and we could have filled every one of them with men from this area, most of whom lost their jobs because of the hurricane," she said. "When we told the guys they would not be needed, they actually cried ... and we cried with them. This is a shame."

Mrs. Swope said employment agencies throughout Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi faced similar problems, when thousands of men from Mexico and several Central and South American countries -- many in crowded buses and trucks -- came into the three states after Katrina, looking for employment and willing to work for less money.

First, let me say to President Bush that you're full of horseshit every single time you open your trap on your plans for immigration reform. It is quite obvious that he has never been a laborer or been on the short end of the income scale because when you're at rock bottom you'll pretty much take any honest job. Some even turn to crime which is inherently risky in order to survive. To say they wouldn't take a legit job is a slap in the face to all laborers.

Second, the article notes that the workers were predominantly black. So the next time you hear of some civil rights group supporting illegal immigration you might want to point out that these same illegal aliens that they support are taking jobs away from their constituents.

Every time I hear someone quote that false mantra I think of the guys in New York City who go down and clean out the sewers. If it were true that Americans don't want certain jobs then that would definitely be one of the first ones that no one wanted. Yet that job has been filled in the past -- and is currently filled -- by legal workers and citizens of this nation. To tell them they should just give their job up to an illegal alien because the work "is beneath them" and that they should starve instead is ridiculous.

The Nose On Your Face names the recent illegal alien protests the "Million Juan March".

Do what Florida does..The state offers rewards of up to $25000 to people who turn in employers who are not paying workers comp. In other words paying wages under the table.
The rewards money comes from fines etc against employers caught. Check it out and get your state to pass simular laws. Mexicans should go back to Mexico and clean up their corrupt criminal drug dealing government. Mexico is a sewer. People bring their culture with them. We don't need the corruption of Mexicans in this country. Go home adios peons.

Why is it that folks quickly blame Mexicans as the source of the problem. WAKE UP! It's the big US companies, and our local, state and federal government that allows these companies to continue hiring illegal immigrants. Where is the system of social control? I believe dishonest behavior, bribery and white collar corruption exists strongly in the US. Otherwise, why do companies continue to hire illegal immigrants and get away with it? These same companies and anyone who benefits from illegal immigrants are the same people who pass the laws that allow "guest worker" programs; Capitalism! Would illegal immigrants continue to come to the US if job's didn't exist for them? NO!

As for Mexico being a strong drug provider - yes this is true, but the source of the problem is US citizens who consume it. If Mexico doesn't provide the supply, other countries will. US has a huge demand for drugs and the problem is at this end; the demand. Wake up US.

I agree with the comments made above. I have been a contractor for 25 years and never hired an illegal alien.
I lived in Colrado for ten years and watched as the Mexicans came rolling in year after year. I had to keep lowering my prices to compete. As time went on the work was gone all to them. I lost my Ranch and everything i had.
I moved to the Northwest all the way to the ocean and they are here also. They are breaking the law and everyone who hires them. I am not a racist. My partner has a girlfriend for many years who is Spanish but guess what she came here through the Legal process of immagration, waiting and learned the language. I have others who are friends and are here legally. This race card is another example of how they try to steer us with fear and accusations. I was a Republican and i have lost hope in our system. When the law is broken on this scale anarchy will ensue. I can't say how frustrating it is to where i am now in the bottom rungs and the Mexican illegals are driving new trucks and new tools also with attitude.I went into Walmart the other day and thought i was in another country. Almost no one was speaking English and i was pushed out of the way in the isles. We must stand together and fight for our country. Vote this election for someone who will stand up to them and the corperations. I think it is the agenda to unify Mexico, America and Canada like Eruope did as a model. They will change the dollar to the Amero and build a highway from Mexico straight up through to Canada. Bush already is letting the truckers come in now from Mexico. I wonder how all the truckers will feel when they lose there jobs. Once they climb the ladder and branching off into the white colar jobs then lets see how they respond to being on the street. God bless all Americans .

The story of the American people is a story of immigration and diversity. The United States has welcomed more immigrants than any other country -- more than 50 million in all -- and still admits between 500,000 and 1 million persons a year. In the past many American writers emphasized the idea of the melting pot, an image that suggested newcomers would discard their old customs and adopt American ways. Typically, for example, the children of immigrants learned English but not their parents' first language. Recently, however, Americans have placed greater value on diversity, ethnic groups have renewed and celebrated their heritage, and the children of immigrants often grow up being bilingual.

Hey Jose,
The ONLY AMericans who have placed a greater value on diversity when it comes to construction jobs are greedy and shortsighted contractors, businesses and the cultural marxists who have influenced everyone through their control of the media and the institutions of higher learning. No American construction worker wants to see illegals from Mexico taking over our trades and our jobs because they work for less.

I agree with many comments on here. I have seen the illegal immigration cut through our society and degrade our wages and take jobs for many who would work them. These corporations have been taking advantage of these illegals and have screwed the american worker by saying they couldn't get any american to take the job. Well, I would like to correctly put that statement in alignment with what the corporations are really saying - they are really saying that they can't find an american to work for the rediculous wage that the illegals will work for. They just didn't want to have to pay the correct wage an american should make.
On one side my heart goes out to these people. They come here for a better life only to have corporations take advantage of these people. One the other hand, they come here illegally - they are breaking the law. If I go to another country which I have been well traveled, I would be thrown in jail for staying past 30 days and there is no way in hell I would have been allowed to work, and I do know this from personal experience.
I personally know and work for a corporation that recently has had to let all of them go due to the more recent crack down on the illegal worker status. This corporation knew the whole time these workers had falsified their paperwork, social security numbers, and even their names. Now the immigration office has come through to review the employment files. The company was given 1 week to fix the problem - by December 1st, 2010 the ilegals have been told they are done. Although they are illegal, I have gotten to know these wonderful people since working with them. They have worked hard, never complained, and only continued to work with a smile on their face. It angered me that this corporation paid them such low, low wages - basically taking advantage of these people - hence, that is why so many others in this company are paid so low. But it angers me to find out that the illegals have been using falsified paper work, social security numbers, as well as false names, false drivers licenses, and this last one will get you - they have been collecting $400 to $600 dollars a months in FOOD STAMPS - again, by using a totally different name, address, and social security numbers. This is not just some rumor either, I actually know many of them that have told me how much they collect in food stamps. Another thing that gets many of us down here "deep south that is", is all the local colleges offer FREE english classes to all the spanish people. My company told my co-manager that she would move up faster if she learned spanish, so she went to the local college and had to pay $300 dollars for the spanish class. She thought about the FREE english class the college was giving to the ILLEGALS and she dropped the class and got her money back. Us american tax payers are footing that free ENGLISH class for the illegals as well as the food stamps they are getting by nothing less than crimnal acts.
Many employees feel sorry for the illegals as I once did, and still do, however, now that much of this other stuff has come to light, I am angry that they have skirted our system, voluntarily falsified documents to gain access to benefits for which they were never supposed to get, and now are asking other employees for continued help. Now that this information has come to light for many american employees at this company, many are upset and disgusted. The company has threaten to fire anyone who even talks about it. How do you like that? The truth is, this company has greatly benefited by knowingly hiring these illegals, looked the other way when they knowingly accepted falsified paperwork, paid them slave wages, allowed them to use social security numbers that were not theirs, and so on...
Many executives at this company have paid them to do work on their homes by cleaning, landscaping, and may other jobs. Jobs that in this town normally would have gone to independant business owners that used to do that type of work.
A couple months ago, I even went to get my License renewed. They were building a new courthouse, and guess who all the workers were? ILLEGAL. So our townships have even gotten away with it. tisk, tisk tisk...

These executives at this company are WEALTHY as hell!!! I mean Donald Trump wealthy. Which I have no problem with the wealth, but I do have a problem with them putting americans out of work, just cause they wanted to be cheap and also take advantage of the illegals who will work for nothing.
When it comes down to it, americans have been complacent, and need to keep writing our elected officials in all the local, state, and D.C. offices for them to correct this problem and stick up for Americans. My way of life has significantly been downgraded and I don't like it.

Let's say I break into your house

A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials
in ages!!! It explains things better than all
the baloney you hear on TV.

Her point:

Recently large demonstrations have taken place
across the country protesting the fact that Congress
is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that
the US might protect its own
borders, might make it harder
to sneak into this country and,
once here, to stay indefinitely.
Let me see if I correctly understand
the thinking behind these protests.
Let's say I break into your house.
Let's say that when you discover
me in your house, you insist that I leave.
But I say, "No! I like it here.
It's better than my house. I've made all
the beds and washed the
dishes and did the laundry
and swept the floors. I've
done all the things you don't
like to do. I'm hard-working
and honest
(except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters:
You are Required to let me stay in your house
You are Required to feed me
You are Required to add me to your family's insurance plan
You are Required to Educate my kids
You are Required to Provide other benefits to me & to my family
(my husband will do all of your yard work because
he is also hard-working and honest, except for that
breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out,
I will call my friends who will picket your
house carrying signs that proclaim my
RIGHT to be there.

It's only fair, after all, because you have
a nicer house than I do, and I'm just
trying to better myself. I'm a hard-working
and honest, person, except for well,
you know, I did break into your house
And what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a
fraction of the cost of my keep, and
there is nothing you can do about it
without being accused of cold,

uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and
bigoted behavior.

Oh yeah, I DEMAND that you learn
MY LANGUAGE!!! so you can
communicate with me.

Why can't people see how ridiculous
this is?! Only in America
if you agree, pass it on (in English ).
Share it if you see the value of it.

If not blow it off........
along with your future Social Security
funds, and a lot of other things.
