For all the talk of how much America depends on illegal aliens you'd think that with all of them skipping work on Monday to ask for citizenship and a bunch of welfare services that the country would have collapsed.
Well guess what?
It Didn't
Oh my how all the restaurants shut down, fruit wasn't picked and beds weren't made in hotels... or not. A Day Without An [Illegal] Alien backfired.
Not only did the illegal aliens manage to piss off most of the citizens and legal residents of this country by flying foreign flags or American flags upside down, but they proved that living without them at a workplace wouldn't destroy the country or slow things down. On top of that they drew idiots like Ted Kennedy into the fray and had him all over the news reading something closely while someone had to translate his speech into Spanish for him so those here illegally who have no intentions of assimilating could understand just how much he wants to sell out American citizenship for popularity with people who can't vote. What was he thinking?
The other thing that the protests did is just show the American people exactly what we've let our country become and how many illegal aliens we've let invade our country while doing nothing over the past 20 years.
All in all the protests/rallies or whatever you want to call them were a great success, but not for the ones doing the marching. They were a success for people like me and the majority of Americans who want a crackdown on illegal immigration.
Thank you illegal aliens for just proving the points we've all been talking about over the years.

Preach on brother! I too have reached the boiling point. They just want to give away everything we have spent the last 200 years building. Here is an interesting way to voice your sentiments. http://www.cafepress.com/Ameri1

FYI: May 1 is boycott day. April 10 was merely a day to protest.

Actually, the Day Without A Mexican that you're referring to is on May 1, so you should probably get your facts together before you run your mouth. Also, the reason people weren't effected on April 10 is because only a small number of people protested. If everybody got together and boycotted, there would be a very big impact on the country, but you probably won't believe it until it happens like most people. Oh well, just wait . . .

Lets go back to ancient history… Fact: Immigrants colonized the USA who by the way had to sail an entire ocean. In reality everyone except the Native American Indians can truly say they did not immigrate to the U.S. How can anyone else criticize the immigrants and yet our ancestors were immigrants themselves?? Hasn’t anyone stepped out of his or her shoe and into an “illegal” immigrants shoe? You leave your loved ones behind, risk your life and settle for low paying jobs. One thing for certain is that illegal immigration will not stop. The root of the problem is not deporting them or legalizing immigration. The root of the problem is governments’ working together. If the U.S. and x third world country governments would work together to help one another, immigrants would not have to leave their countries. By helping create more revenue for that country where their citizens can earn better pay and/or entrepreneur, I’m pretty sure they would not be here. Why many Americans retire and move to Mexico for example? Mexico is beautiful and so many Mexicans have to leave in order to support their families because the value of the peso is nearly worthless. It is cool converting a dollar into pesos; you’ll have more to spend. Try converting pesos into a dollar. Lets stop attacking one another and pressure the governments to work together. That’s the only realistic solution. At the end both sides win.
Btw: my family did immigrate to the U.S., we have accomplished our “American dream” here, but I’ll be retiring in Mexico living in Los Cabos!!

Let's go back even further into history and admit that the Native Americans weren't always here either, but by most accounts crossed over here through a land bridge that no longer exists. So the only true inhabitants should be animals, which didn't always exist either. It's a fruitless argument.
As for helping third world countries, the US sends a ton of foreign aid and there are many businesses that exist in Mexico that were brought there by American companies and now employ Mexicans. The real problem is that there's massive corruption in Mexico and the money doesn't reach the lower classes in order for them to get ahead in life.
I always love the argument that it's America's fault for other countries lack of economic development. Yes, it is America's fault that the Mexican government and the upper classes in Mexico have put their foot on the throat of their fellow countrymen and forced them to live in poverty or attempt to escape illegally into America. Give me a break!
We could send 100 billion a year to Mexico and with the current corruption things would remain exactly the same. The saddest thing is that the poor in Mexico won't stand up for themselves and demand change. Mexico currently has the escape valve of forcing, encouraging and aiding their poor to enter illegally into America. If that escape valve didn't exist then the Mexican government would actually have to look to solutions that actually worked.
Yes, it is all America's fault.

First of all with respect to U.S. foreign aid, most of that if not all is given in exchange for compliance and support, not for development. The money more often than not benefits the rulers, not those that need it most or the economy.
Second, Mexicans HAVE stood up for themselves. The most recent major uprising was in 1994 when some campesinos took over a small town and announced their requests over the radio. The Mexican government used US provided helicopters and weapons to gun down dozens of poorly armed peasants. Let's not forget the terrorists we supported in other countries to our south when the people stood up for themselves and demanded change. In Venezuela when a president who didn't kiss our butts was overthrown, the US gave advice to the junta to help them stay in power. The rest of the OAS condemned the coup.
No, it's not all America's fault. But don't suggest for a minute that we actually did anything to help them. I guess the immigrants have resolved that if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
