Border Patrol and Police responding to a 911 call were fired upon by automatic weapons receiving 200-300 rounds of fire in a 5 minute period from the Mexican side of the border. Luckily no one was injured in the attack.
Hostilities from the Mexican side of the border are increasing as the article below points out. In that one sector alone there have been 76 attacks on Border Patrol agents this fiscal year, up two fold from the previous year.
Across the whole US-Mexico border there were 566 assaults against agents for the last fiscal year. Yep, an average of more than one attack on our Border Patrol each day and no outrage from our government over these attacks on federal agents by foreign nationals. But you know the president is "serious about immigration reform and securing our border". It's actions President Bush. Actions, not words.

"This type of incident is a very good example of why I will not allow my deputies to patrol the river banks or the levees anywhere close to the river," [Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino] said. "We do have drug trafficking gangs, human trafficking gangs, that will not hesitate to fire at us."
Trevino said the shooting appeared to have started in Mexico, at a riverside ranch owned by a family from Donna, Texas. He said two brothers said they were with their father at the ranch when vehicles full of armed men drove in and opened fire, killing a ranch hand and taking their father hostage.
The brothers hid for several hours in a field before swimming across the river. They called their mother from a cell phone, who called 911. The mother said someone may have been killed, and police and the Border Patrol initially went to the river bank to search for a body. Once there, the gunfire began.
"There is no doubt about one thing, that we were shot at from the Mexican side," Trevino said.
They are investigating whether the gunmen entered the US. They're probably just looking for some landscaping jobs if they did I'm guessing, so don't worry.
