The Senate Voted 71-28 on cloture of
The Secure Fence Act (HR 6061) last night. This bill approves 700 miles of border fencing along the southern border and a study of the northern border. It is expected to go to a vote on passage today. If it passes then it will head to President Bush to sign. President Bush has already said that he will sign the bill if it is approved by Congress.
Update This bill has passed!
Keep in mind that this bill is not just about illegal immigration but homeland security. Those who have voted against cloture were probably hoping to attach some amendments for amnesty for illegal aliens to the bill.
The Senate thinks we are stupid and not watching them. They think they can continue to ignore this problem and allow it to continue. I will not let that happen though and I will scream the names of those who are fighting against our national sovereignty from the highest mountaintops
Below is the vote roll for cloture as taken last night (Republicans Bolded).

That's right folks Lincoln Chafee is the only Republican to vote against cloture. You can see Senator Lincoln Chafee's Record On Immigration where it shows he doesn't seem too concerned about border security.
It will be interesting to see where these Senators laoyalties lie when the final vote comes up. Will it be with America or will it be with illegal aliens and terrorists?
