Project Valour IT is a group which provides voice controlled laptops to our injured troops who no longer have the ability to operate a computer manually. This group is simply outstanding. There's no better way to give a boost to our airmen, sailors, soldiers and yes, even those jarheads out there (I'm an ex-squid myself) by allowing them to have communications with others.
Project Valour IT stands for (Voice-Activated Laptops for OUR Injured Troops)
Imagine sitting in a hospital for months and months after serving your country, some with little family or contact with others who can relate. Sure some have support groups in a hospital, through the VA or through the outstanding efforts of the USO, but what about at 2AM? What if they just want to find others who have gone through what they have? What if they want to anonymously explore their feelings. Maybe they're still too prideful to just come out and express some inner feelings they are having. They can do that online. In real life they may feel ashamed or maybe they're just not very open with their feelings.
So, I urge you to donate. Drop a $20 in the donation jar.
Part of the Soldiers Angels, Project Valour-IT has representatives at the following hospitals: Balboa Naval Hospital, Brooke Army Medical Center, Madigan Regional Medical Center, National Naval Medical Center (Bethesda Naval Hospital), Naval Hospital, Camp Pendleton, Robert E. Bush Naval Hospital (29 Palms) and Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
So far they have provided over 600 laptops to wounded troops and they have it down to a science. They can put them together for $800 each. Yes, a voice controlled laptop for $800. Every cent donated goes towards the machines. You can't get much better than 0% administrative costs.
This current drive is to bring in $180,000 and they already have a good start on it.
And just to make it fun, they've allowed bloggers and websites to join teams based on the four branches of the service. I, of course, am on the winning team of the US Navy.
So Donate Below!
Look, whether you're for or against any wars anywhere, a young person that has lost the ability to use their hands could really use your help. They are Americans and whether you agree with the politics or not, they have made a sacrifice.
So Donate Now!
If you run a website you can join the Navy team here and help us show the other services who's who by outperforming them as we always do.
