President Bush says that he sees the opportunity to get his guest worker amnesty passed and says it is a great way to show the American people that the government is working in a bipartisan manner.

On immigration, Bush said that he is interested in enacting a proposal, blocked earlier this year by House Republicans, that would establish a guest-worker program for low-skilled workers and a path to citizenship for many of the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants now in the country.
"I hope that Congress will join me on a comprehensive bill, and I would hope that the majority of both parties support it," he said
The American people don't care if the parties work together if they pass the wrong legislation. And to most Americans in poll after poll Bush's Comprehensive guest worker program is the wrong legislation. The American people have spoken and they want enforcement first. Don't believe me? Then why did more than 70% of Arizona voters pass enforcement related propositions this past election?
I seriously doubt they (or Americans anywhere) would have voted in favor of a proposition asking if all illegal aliens in the country now should be legalized, even with a waiting period and fine as the President's and Senate's Comprehensive Immigration Reform package does.
If the guest worker amnesty ever does pass it will simply be politicians scratching each others backs in order to get other legislation passed and not because it's in the best interests of America or the American people.
