The truth about the May Day 'riots' in MacArthur Park in LA is coming out and people around the web would have you think that the LAPD just opened fire with rubber bullets on a bunch of people sitting around with their kids having a peaceful time.
For instance, over here it states
Last night before I went to bed I thought I heard on the news that the Los Angeles Police Department fired rubber bullets and used tear gas on a group of peaceful marchers who were attending a the pro-immigration rally in MacArthur Park.
...
Here are three videos of the nightmare that the peaceful marchers had to endure on May 1 at MacArthur Park at the hand of the brutal LA police force
Yes, those evil LAPD officers who work in a sanctuary city decided to randomly start shooting rubber bullets at innocent illegal alien victims and their children.
Then you have huge propagandists like Brad Friedman over at Brad Blog. He put a whole piece together on how evil the LAPD are. Am I a bad person for wishing that one day he'll need the LAPD and they won't be there? I mean since he hates them so much and everything...
Over at Appletree it's all about discrimination. I mean the LAPD should have just stood there and been hit by rocks and bottles and let things downtown burn to the ground. I mean if the criminals aren't white we should just ignore them right? Otherwise it's racism.
how do you think the LAPD would have responded if this had been a St. Patrick’s Day parade, or a rally for the Minutemen? Can you imagine the LAPD wading into a crowd of skinheads and rednecks, swinging batons and shooting rubber bullets?
Umm, why yes I can! If they were throwing rocks and bottles at police and trying to overturn television news trucks I can imagine them going in there and cracking some heads. Why wouldn't it happen to the Minutemen? Because they're not a bunch of violent thugs out there attacking people. I love how this guy tries to lump the Minutemen in with skinheads and "rednecks". Where's all the violent actions committed by the Minutemen? Come on, site some actions where the Minutemen attacked police with rocks and bottles and just walked away. You can't because you're making a bunch of crap up and spreading lies.
It's pretty sad that these people would instantly side against law enforcement before they've even investigated the truth. They take one side from a group of people illegally in our country and turn their backs on people putting their lives on the line to keep us safe. Could there be anything more despicable than that? I'm all for investigations, but these people have made up their minds based off of the agenda of one group in our country. I'd be the first to attack the LAPD if they were proven wrong in their actions, but I'll side with them every time until proven otherwise.
Now here's the truth since so many seem to want to ignore the facts and believe that for some reason all of the sudden this country (and LA!) is actually cracking down on illegal immigration (HAH!).
We have police intercepts of what was going on
Listen to these police radio intercepts. In part one you will hear the cops talking about being pelted with rocks and bottles at around the 11 minute mark. People were throwing stuff from apartments too. At round the 14 minute mark someone starts a fire. Note that the media ignored many of these facts.
Part 1 Listen Here
In part two the rowdiness starts around the 05:30 mark. Some jokes around 10:50. At around 14:10 there is talk of people throwing bottles at cars. At 16 minutes they start going after some of the Mobsters.
Part 2: Listen Here
Of course you'll never be able to convince those who are hellbent on always thinking that law enforcement is always in the wrong. You'd never be able to convince them otherwise even if illegal aliens at the scene came up to them and told them the same story as the LAPD. They want to believe what they wish even when presented with irrefutable evidence to the contrary. And they'll spew their filth and lies as far as possible.
Watchdog has videos as well (link is now broken). Go watch them and you'll quickly see that this BS being spread by the likes of the illegal alien supporters above is just that, BS. Pure fiction and propaganda.
I personally wish the LAPD had done nothing and let the situation erupt into a full blown riot. Because no matter what happens our law enforcement and American citizens will always be considered wrong no matter what we do regarding illegal immigration by these groups. Better to let them riot and let the truth be exposed about what illegal immigration is doing to this country.
Groups like those above should thank the heavens the LAPD stepped in when they did, for a full blown riot would have really woken up the rest of America to what is going on in this country.
I linked to this Fox News report, which shows police shooting rubber bullets at peaceful demonstrators. Also, journalists are attacked by the police, in violation of standard police procedure. The police moved into an area in which demonstrators were not attacking or provoking them, and began firing rubber bullets without warning and without giving an order to disperse. This is all confirmed by the video footage, by the reporter, and by interviewees.
You seem to think that the actions of the police were beyond reproach, but the LAPD chief doesn't share your view. I think Chief Bratton probably knows more about police procedure and the rules of engagement than you do.
Finally, you seem to think that police officers always treat everyone the same, regardless of race. You're wrong. Given the long history of racism and discrimination within the LAPD, I don't see why it's unreasonable to think that racism might have been a factor here.

Wow, speaking of "propaganda". I neither hate the LAPD, nor think they are evil. As well, I have "needed" them before and found them quite helpful and professional.
In this case, however, it appears that they used far more force than necessary, though my coverage of the story didn't even include that point. It simply showed video and news reports of what happened that day from the people who were there. That's propaganda? Had you bothered to check with me, of course, I'd have told you all of the above, and save you from what appears to be propaganda on this site's "reporting" unfortunately.
Sorry you have a problem with that, but I suspect your problem is not with me, however.
