Congressman Steve King of Iowa went on Lou Dobbs Tonight from Mexico City, Mexico this afternoon, August 27, 2007 to discuss what has been occurring down there when discussing immigration matters and border security with members of the Mexican government.
I found this interview quite interesting and in particular one comment made by Steve King regarding how Mexico views us cracking down on illegal immigration and border security in our country.
"The incentives in Mexico for them to help us with this really aren't there when you compare it to the billion of dollars of incentives that they have to let this happen," King said. "I can tell you that in the room I'm the only one that wants to build a fence and a wall and they seem to think that's counterproductive and offensive to them."
Counterproductive and offensive to them that the United States of America wants to secure its borders. There's really no surprise there, but coming from someone who is meeting them face to face and they still act in that manner, I am simply offended that this foreign government seems to think that they have the right to be offended that we'd want to protect our social services and jobs in this country for those who actually deserve them.
The arrogance of this country south of us is simply impressive.
