It is simply the oppurtunity for children who grew up in the United States and sat in the same classroom as all the other Native American children,learning the same grammer and U.S. history for up to 12 years to have the same right to complete the education they have worked hard for.

The Bill is to allow them to go to college AT ALL since in most cases illegal aliens can't even GET IN to college. They are students who know no other home but the United States and have no fault or say in their illegal status. They want to live here legally and simply want to go to college and live out the dream they were promised in History and Government courses all their lives. One nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for ALL said our founding fathers whom I beleive were also immigrants in pursuit and in battle for a better life.

The DREAM ACT isn't to take up the seats of Americans it's just to give them a chance for a better future. They're not getting a complete free ride. They have to get accepted and they have to go through the same thing every other American student does...for them it's just harder...because it's not very easy to get accepted into college by being illegal... I honestly think that the people that are against this(mainly students) are just scared of competition. I'm graduating Salutatorian this year class of 08 and being illegal makes things challenging for me. It gives me little hope for the future. Have you ever been to agricultural fields here in California? Either way, if you didn't know they're full of illegal immigrants, yes, in fact they're loaded. My question is this, why doesn't the government proceeds with massive raids on these locations and deport every single illegal alien? You may say it's not practical, but the actual answer is that it's NOT convenient; why do you think that the government does nothing, it's common sense! And if they did proceed with this action, who would work the fields? I don't think you would want to work out there in the extreme temperatures for 8+ hours at a minimum wage! Be honest to yourself and answer this question, only then will you understand the importance of the "illegal aliens."


Consider this, California's economy depends on agriculture, can you imagine if there was a shortage! California's economy would go down the hill and you would be paying a lot more for your tomatoes, grapes, wines, hamburgers(they have vegetables in them), and so forth. Why? Well take what you have learned in Economics(if you haven't then once you do, you will understand what I am talking about), apply the law of supply and demand.



You can also look at it this scenario where all the illegal aliens have been deported. Taking in consideration that these jobs are no piece of cake, no one would want these jobs, the only way for employers to attract new employees9like you) is to pay more. Since employers would have to pay you more, they would ask more for their products. Since stores, restaurants, etc., would have to pay more, they would have to sell their products at higher prices to make a profit.



My point is this, if California benefits from the presence of illegal aliens, so why not allow immigrants to benefit from California? That's why they should have a shot at attending college and a road to success.

It states that an "illegal alien" (one who was not born in the U.S. or been granted citizenship...just in case you didn't know because clearly some do not) can receive "in state tution" just like a U.S. citizen (Not a citizen of the America's to clarify)who resides in said state. That means, for all you geniuses going to "out of state" universities that you will be paying around triple what someone with "illegal alien status" will pay just for getting a GED or high school diploma in the U.S. If the bill included that the "out of state" students pay the same as the "illegal aliens" then it would make it alot easier to accept. By the way, all those who are in favor of this bill now will be the first ones to comlain when there are no jobs left because of the so called "opportunities" you wanted to afford those who chose not to become U.S. citizens. My family and I came to america legally, but didn't renew our visas in time which in result made our status "illegal", I was 2 then. my parents began the resident process but due to our "illegal status" we had to do it a more difficult way, a good 16 years has passed and they are now barely becoming citizens. People don't realize how long, difficult, and expensive the process is, you have to pay for so many applications and lawyers. I still have to this day not became a citizen. Its hard to listen to all these people talk so much CRAP about us mexicans, I just don't understand what the big deal is!!!! I don't consider myself any different from any AMERICAN, I was the "ALL AMERICAN GIRL". I am currently attending one of the best Universities in Texas and plan to do big things with my life. although my naturalization is in process, I will never forget my roots. These college funds (i.e., fafsa grants, cal grants) are from the sweat and blood of the many hard working legal residents/ citizen in America who actually pay taxes to the government.I too am an immigrant, but I am LEGAL. My family and I waited for 15 years for our petition to be approved and then entered America LEGALLY in 2000. We work hard here and pay taxes. We play by the rules, and so I think it is only reasonable that we (American residents and citizens) be rewarded.
