Every year the folks at Project Valour-IT (Voice-Activated Laptops for OUR Injured Troops) volunteer to provide our troops wounded in combat with voice activated computers. These injured men and women have put their lives on the line in the defense of our country all around the world. From Afghanistan to Iraq to places you've never even heard of these, fellow citizens are defending our rights as soldiers on the front lines.
"It was the first time I felt whole since I’d woken up wounded in Landstuhl." - Chuck Ziegenfuss, on using a voice-controlled laptop
So, I ask you now to please donate to help these brave and courageous men and women of our armed forces who have sacrificed a part of themselves so that you can read my rantings, watch your TV and go to your job daily without the threat of being blown up on a daily basis by our enemies.
A little more about the Project Valour-IT program:
Every cent raised for Project Valour-IT goes directly to the purchase and shipment of laptops for severely wounded service members. As of October 2007, Valour-IT has distributed over 1500 laptops to severely wounded Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines across the country.
Valour-IT accepts donations in any amount to support the purchase and distribution of laptops, but also offers a sponsorship option. An individual or organization may sponsor a wounded soldier by completely funding the cost of a laptop and continuing to provide that soldier with personal support and encouragement throughout recovery. This has proved to be an excellent project for churches, groups of coworkers or friends, and members of community organizations such Boy Scouts.
You will note below that I am a member of the Project Valour-IT Navy team. This does not mean that your donations only go to Navy personnel. Each year they allow volunteer websites to join a "service team" in a little friendly competition on which branch of the service will raise the most cash. Being ex-Navy it is an obvious choice for me.
Please donate now!
