Ken Pope, the problem with these groups is that they are premised on the idea that America is racist. That is false. Compare us with, say, Korea. If you are not Korean and had a child with your wife, he or she would really know about legal discrimination.

People who see disparity and say it is proof that America is racist, forget to look at culture. Cultural diversity is real. Some groups do more homework than others. By blaming society, we fail to look at culture. We divide ourselves and can make no real progress via honest talk.

In the Robber's Cave experiment they found that summer camp groups of even the same demographic and racial background divide into competing groups. How did they put them back together again? They got them working together on a commmon task they could not solve alone (pushing a bus to a shop). Our appropriate goal is the one is working towards saving Western Civilization. If you are a citizen you should be concerned with what is good for America.

Problem is with these groups, they are only concerned with what is good for their group. They often define their demands within the assumption that they are victims. We need to all be on the same side. Ben Franklin said before the War, "We must all hang together, or we will surely hang separately."

Works well in both the public and private sector. As old as man, and a proven sales technique. Identify (or create) a problem and then offer yourself as the solution. Once you hook the customer, you give them a stake in whatever you are selling. Acolytes or rubes as needed. Demonize the competition as necessary to preserve profits or consolidate power. Carpetbaggers don't usually last very long. Politics and religions, with no tangible product to scrutinize, hang on a little longer. Digger is right, it is an insidious trap, one that plays well in a PC culture. The real sources of hate, intolerance and racism, need to have the light of the truth laid upon them 'at every turn'.

Affirmative action promotes the hiring of women and minorities; this excludes one group, white males. A very racist stand.

You are also correct about fomenting racist thoughts where there were none before. This is a result of our human defense mechanism assessing we are under unfair attack. Continue to stick to the high road, it will all work out.
