It's a simple fact. If you are in the country illegally then you are in the state illegally. If you are an illegal alien then you are an illegal resident and therefore not a resident at all. You should receive no government services. None. Period.
The University of Virginia has now started cracking down on illegal aliens and is refusing in-state tuition to illegals, even in the case of their parents being illegal.
For whatever reason the rest of the leaders in this country have no common sense. Either for votes, power, money or cheap labor they have decided to ignore the laws and continued to try and pass legislation to give in-state tuition to illegal aliens and their children.
Thanks to leaders like that in the Virginia Attorney General's office though, maybe more of our leaders will grow a spine.
From this sob story article in the Washington Post
the Virginia state attorney general's office weighed in, saying that schools must look at parents' legal status, because students are considered dependent until they are 24 years old. That means the children of parents without legal residency must be considered for out-of-state admission and tuition.
The attorney general's memo emphasized that state law allows exceptions on a case-by-case basis, if students 18 or older can offer convincing evidence that they should be considered separately from their parents.
You can go read the whole story which focuses on one kid who was picked, of course, because he's an exception and not the rule. They purposely avoided the millions of drop outs, teen pregnancy cases, those who don't speak any English but still want a free ride and those who have just jumped across the border yesterday.
One citizen opposed to illegal immigration and in-state tuition makes this obvious statement.
"Let's take care of our own people," said Brad Botwin, who runs an advocacy group called Help Save Maryland ... "Why would you give priority to someone who should rightly be arrested and deported?"
So what do those who support in-state tuition for illegal aliens put up as their reason?
But students have the right to a public education through 12th grade in this country, advocates argue.
That is something that should be eliminated as well. Thanks for pointing that out.
The fact is that things like in-state tuition are just stepping stones to more things in the future. Just as giving a "free" education to all kids, illegal or not, was a stepping stone to them now demanding in-state college tuition, even at the detriment of Americans and legal residents who will lose their seat in the class in order to placate breakers of our laws.
The reality is that illegal aliens should receive no benefits. Zip. Zero. Nada.
