Well this just takes the cake. Ruth at Illegal Protest tipped me off to a story last night of three illegal aliens being hired by the Amish, but in the report it said the Hispanic men were Amish. Well knowing the Amish, I found this to be absolutely ridiculous.
Now word is coming down that there were three Hispanic illegal aliens AND three Amish men caught in a vehicle, so the initial reporter must have got it wrong.
Either way I have always had the utmost respect for the Amish. They are hard working religious folk who bother nobody and prefer to be left alone. If I was to pick one group in this country that could be considered the hardest working, the Amish would be one of the groups right up there.
So what are the Amish doing hiring illegal aliens? Well I'm not here to defend them. These three Amish men were riding in a motor vehicle, something that the Amish are not known for doing. So are these truly Amish men or not? Who knows? Either way this story is disturbing and if the Amish truly are hiring illegal aliens then this country is worse off than even I thought.
WTRF
Ohio County Sheriff's Deputies pulled over a truck for speeding on Interstate 70 eastbound and found three admitted illegals inside, along with three Amish men.
Chief Deputy Pat Butler says the illegals were on their way to a job in Pennsylvania.
Butler said this was a first for him in 33 years in law enforcement.
He said three illegals were working for an Amish roofing company.
The three men from Mexico and Guatemala were held by the department, and immigration officials in Pittsburgh agreed to pick them up.
Butler says it will be up to labor enforcement to determine whether their employer, Summit Framing, will face any legal action.
All I have to say is WTF?!?

I know that many Amish in Morgantown, Pa. have hired illegal aliens for years. They were among the first to "import" them. It's all about the money. And, by the way, many Amish are honest, religious and hard working but, since going to horse auctions, I have learned that some of them dope the horses they take to the sales to make them saleable. When the drugs wear off several days later....buyer beware.

When I saw the title of this blog, I just had to read it. As far as Amish driving trucks, the Mennonites do drive so that doesn't seem that unbelievable as far as being caught in a motor vehicle.
"These three Amish men were riding in a motor vehicle, something that the Amish are not known for doing. So are these truly Amish men or not?"
I hate to read that though, because I have respect for the Amish as far as their way of living etc, but I am both amazed and disgusted to hear about Puppy Mills being run by them.

This is such an ignorant article... First of all, the Amish are a very diverse group, and could very well hire illegal immigrants...possibly out of compassion and sympathy to their plight. Some Amish do own puppy mills, they may treat animals cruelly. And Amish are well known to ride in motor vehicles, they pay drivers all the time. And some groups of Amish actually drive vehicles. There are Amish settlements in central America. Some people would be extremely surprised to find that the Amish are NO DIFFERENT than the rest of us! There are criminals and saints among them and everything in between (wow what a thought?!)
