At a conference held by La Raza in Washington DC yesterday speakers said that Americans are "not concerned" about losing jobs to illegal aliens, but are in fact more concerned that illegal aliens are paying taxes. This research not surprisingly was conducted by themselves - which we should all take as an unbiased source I assume. I actually thought of filing this under the humor category, but the reality is that you will probably be hearing from the results of this "research" in interviews they do in the news.
I can see it now being spread around time and time again, without mentioning that there is no corroborating research other than their own. They now claim that 62% of Americans are more in favor of making illegal aliens legal residents so they pay taxes than they are in deporting them because they might take their job.
I can see the loaded poll question now "Would you rather have illegal aliens pay taxes or be deported because they may take your job?" Talk about a baited question that shows no truth. They could have also asked "Are you more concerned that illegal aliens pay taxes or that they should be deported because an illegal alien may break into your home and use a plastic tube to drain all your blood so that it may be used in a witchcraft ritual?" Who the hell would pick the later choice? A very small percentage.
They failed of course to mention that more than 80% of this country totally opposes illegal immigration in any fashion when asked directly. The only way they can get pro-illegal answers is if they skew the choice. Maybe next time they should ask "Would you rather give illegal aliens amnesty or have me pull a gun out and execute you right here on the spot?" I bet they could then headline "95% of Americans support Amnesty" at their next conference (Why only 95%? because of course there are the true patriots in this country who would rather die than see it given over to an invasion of foreigners).

Americans are “not concerned” that they may lose jobs to illegal aliens in a tight job market, according to speakers at a panel discussion conducted Thursday in Washington, D.C., by the National Council of La Raza.
Simon Rosenberg, president and CEO of NDN – formerly the New Democrat Network -- said that Republicans are now “paying a steep price for demonizing Hispanics” in their “anti-immigration rhetoric” – rhetoric that he said created the “fear of losing jobs to undocumented immigrants of Americans.”
Research conducted for La Raza ... indicates that Americans are “more concerned” with undocumented immigrants “being able to pay their fair share of taxes,” Rosenberg said, than they are of losing jobs to illegals.
When asked if he still felt that American jobs would not be threatened by undocumented immigrants despite the fact the current unemployment rate is now at a 14-year high of 6.5 percent, Rosenberg told CNSNews.com that he believes undocumented immigrants have taken jobs that Americans “do not want,” but that there “might be” a shift in concern if unemployment rates continue to rise.
David Mermin, a partner at Lake Research Partners, a national public opinion and political strategy research firm hired by La Raza to study American voters, said 62 percent of American voters are now “more interested in converting illegal immigrants into legal taxpayers than deporting them because they might be taking jobs.”
If you read the whole article above you will also see that Janet Murguia threatens extortion against the Democrats saying that unless illegals are granted legal status her group and al Hispanics won't support them. La Raza of course tries to claim that they represent all Hispanics in this country. A laughable claim.
These groups will continue to use this tactic of making up their own statistics and then claiming that they have definitive stats saying Americans are indeed for even more illegal immigration and granting them all amnesty.
Update
Ruth over at Illegal Protest has dug up some information on the "polling" operation Lake Research Partners that conducted the research La Raza is using and - surprise! - they are progressives trying to push an agenda.
Before anyone takes David Mermin or Lake Research Partners as some kind of non-partisan polling outfit, consider that by their own description they are a DEMOCRATIC POLLING GROUP as can be seen here in their “About President Celinda Lake” page:
Since its formation, Lake Research Partners has become one of the most respected Democratic polling firms in the country, with its Battleground poll widely recognized as one of the leading national issue and election thermometers. The firm’s work has moved the progressive agenda forward on a variety of issues
She also found this little nugget on their website of other groups they do "research" for. Unsurprisingly almost every single group is pro-illegal alien. Do you see a concerted effort here across the board?
