The Department of Homeland Security seems to continue to target those who are opposed to illegal immigration as extremists. In it's latest outrage it released a "lexicon" or a dictionary in which it listed under the description of Anti-Immigration Extremism it said the following:
People who are "highly critical of the US government's response to illegal immigration and oppose government programs that are designed to extend rights to illegal aliens such as driver's licenses and in-state tuition"
It also singles out those who focus on a single issue. They dub these Single-Issue Extremist Groups or Special Interests Extremists including people who are concerned about such things as animal rights, the environment or once again illegal immigration.
It is simply appalling that in America if you are concerned about an issue you are now dubbed a threat of being an extremist by our own government. And just remember, once dubbed an extremist by the Department of Homeland Security you fall under a whole set of laws outside of our traditional judicial system.
Granted there are some who go too far, such as the ELF - the Earth Liberation Front - who have burned down whole construction projects, but to dub all Americans concerned about an issue as extremists or terrorists is absolutely outrageous.
The Department of Homeland Security has said that it has now "recalled" the lexicon, but I think the whole point of it was political in nature. Kind of like saying someone is an axe-murderer in big headlines on the front page of your newspaper and then the next day printing a correction on the second to last page of the paper in small type that says "he's not really an axe murderer". The DHS has been an inept and ineffective organization since it's founding and has done nothing more than waste tons of taxpayer money.
