Border Patrol responded to a tripped sensor northwest of Nogales, AZ on Sunday, Sept 5 and were met by AK-47 fire when they investigated the scene. The suspects are believed to be illegal aliens who were transporting drugs across the border. Border Patrol returned fire, but there were no injuries reported. Nogales is directly on the border with Heroica Nogales, Mexico.

Nogales Border Patrol agent, Mario Escalante said the incident is under investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) is looking into the confrontation. “The shooting incident happened, but it is still part of an ongoing investigation so I can not provided further details that could hinder our inquiry into the matter,” Escalante said.
Unrelated to the shooting incident along the border, the body of Nael Alfredo Garcia-Moreno was found in the Tucson area, shot and burned. No suspects were caught. Pima County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Jason Ogan said that the investigation is still in the preliminary stages.
"They heard what sounded like a gunshot and then saw flames originating from the area. The vehicle left at a high rate of speed on Reservation Road. Border Patrol followed (the truck) but eventually lost sight of the vehicle,” according to Ogan.
The feds of course want all of this to continue. We wouldn't want to offend Mexico by securing the citizens of our country.
