Two American men were gunned down at the Tijuana border crossing as they waited in their vehicle to reenter the United States early this morning. Motive is not available as of yet, but it is almost certainly somehow drug related. There is always the possibility that these were innocent people who were just waiting to come back and were falsely assassinated.
Kevin Romero, 28, and Sergio Salcido Luna, 25, were both shot in the head and their vehicle riddled with bullet holes. Both had their wallets still on them, which suggests robbery was not the motive.
No need to worry though, the border is secure and travel to and from Mexico should continue as if there is absolutely no problems at all along our southern border. While the State Department has issued warnings, they do not currently have a public awareness campaign active to ensure that those thinking of heading to Mexico should maybe think twice.
