Many out there who support illegal immigration predicted doom and gloom for Arizona after it passed SB1070, the law to crack down on illegal aliens in the state. These opponents of the bill organized rallies and held boycotts against the state and told everyone they could how racist Arizona was for passing the law. The proof is in the pudding though when it comes to the results of the law being passed, even though portions of it not implemented due to an injunction and the law seems to be headed to the Supreme Court over challenges by the Department of Justice.

The truth is the residents of Arizona have already benefited from the intent of the law, to get illegal aliens to not come to and live in Arizona, something that has cost the taxpayers billions and billion in taxes and services. The influx of illegal aliens also contributed to billions of costs in infrastructure building to support the increase in congestion, such as road expansion, schools, hospitals and the continued costs of staffing them. Now many illegal aliens have left and the state is prospering.

Arizona is the second fastest growing state behind Nevada. As Town Hall points out the threats that services would be shut down, yards would turn into unkempt jungles and lettuce would cost $5 a head with all the illegal aliens leaving the state hasn't come to fruition.

Most Arizonans have noticed little difference in the service industries where illegal immigrants work, such as landscaping, fast food, construction, car washes, and the hotel industry. Although illegal immigrants have fled the state, prices have barely increased, if at all. Illegal immigrants were already leaving Arizona before SB 1070 was passed, due to previous enforcement efforts led primarily by Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas and Senator Russell Pearce. The federal government estimates that the illegal immigrant population dropped by 18 percent in Arizona from 2008 to 2009. The Mexican government reports that 23,380 Mexicans returned from Arizona to Mexico between June and September of last year, and BBVA Bancomer Research found that as many as 100,000 Latinos left Arizona total during a similar time frame.

Now if we could just get every other state in the union to pass similar laws illegal aliens would self-deport and we could put more Americans back to work, thus increasing our tax base and benefiting every American.
